WELCOME to PACHAMAMA’S HOME PAGE. Here you will find details of ROADKILL which returns to the Edinburgh Festival in 2011 as part of the British Council Showcase. ROADKILL swept the board at last year’s festival and joins a very small list of award-winning theatre companies to have ever done so. If you miss out on seeing the show in Edinburgh, don’t worry, we shall be touring to London’s Barbican as well as a string of dates in Australia and Europe. Soon, on the Pachamama’s home page you will also find details of our work-in-development GLASGOW GIRLS which has it’s own small showcase during the Festival. But for now it’s ROADKILL.

It is very hard to prove my name, it is very hard to prove my age, it is very hard to prove my story in a court of law. It is very hard to prove anything.

In a Benin City, a young girl struggles to support her family. A world away, in an Edinburgh tenement, ‘aunty Martha’ arranges a job and flight for her. Journey with her on the bus that leads to a new life and discover the nightmare reality behind Martha’s promises.

Cora Bissett’s critically acclaimed and urgent 2010 production exposing the hidden world of sex trafficking is based on the experiences of a young woman trafficked to Scotland. It was the first production in Edinburgh Fringe history to win every major theatre award and returns for 11 performances prior to its international tour.
